Having relocated from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg, it was driving through Cape Town’s wine valleys, while admiring the contours of the land and vines, and smelling the richness of the soil, that I knew this was a very special place. The wine valleys exuded an indefinable quality I could not describe, a feeling that was almost mystical and that drew me to explore the business of wine.

 

Our wines are made from grapes grown from what was a former wheat farm, in the well-rested soil in which vines have never grown before. 

 

All our red wines are fermented in oak fermenters – very unusual for a South African winery – and with the unloading station located at the winery’s highest point, all juices are entirely gravity fed, a technique that has proved to create outstanding wines. 

 

We are all about getting SJ wines to the world, as well as importing the small percentage of wines that have passed our tests and selling them to people like you, who care about quality and taste as much as we do. We are always finding the happy medium between taste, purity and price.
